Chapter 1

"Hey, Phantomhive come here, I want to give you a birthday spanking!"

"Bite me, Carrington."

"Aww, you're no fun anymore." Carrington replied as he walked over to his friend. "What are you doin' anyway Ciel?"

"Packing, remember my parents want me home for my birthday." Ciel answered as he continued to pack.

"You're only going to be gone the weekend. Why are you packing for what looks like a month?" Carrington laughed.

"Shut up. I like to be prepared." Ciel grumbled.

"Prepared for what, a natural disaster?" Carrington asked continuing to laugh at his own humor.

"Remind me again why we're friends." Ciel said dryly as he closed his suitcase.

"Because you wouldn't have a sense of humor with out me." Carrington smiled.

"Do you know if Collins is busy?" Ciel asked his friend.

"I think so. I almost forgot about that." Carrington said his mood now sober.

"Think you can pull off a good distraction for me?" Ciel asked as they began to walk.

"I doubt it, I'm not the one he's interested in." Carrington replied.

"Is that what they're calling it these days?" Ciel grumbled. "I'm sure you can come up with something to keep him busy long enough for me to get out of here."

"I'll try." Carrington said with a shrug.

"Well, if it isn't the birthday boy," said a voice from behind them. The two boys tried to continue walking and ignore the voice but a pair of strong hands stopped Ciel and allowed Carrington to continue on his way. "I'm talking to you Phantomhive."

"Carrington!" Ciel called after his friend, then noticed that Carrington was busy with his own problem in the form of Collins' friends. "Damn." He said under his breath then looked to the boy who was addressing him. "What do you want Collins?"

"I just wanted to wish you a happy birthday," Collins said with a wicked grin.

"I don't have time for your bullshit right now." Ciel replied.

"Bullshit is it?" Collins said fiercely, "Is that any way to talk to your prefect?"

"At the moment I don't really care. I'm on my way home; I'd like to make it there before my birthday is over." Ciel said irritably.

"Is that so, well then I'd say you better cooperate. After all it is your birthday." Collins said and grabbed hold of Ciel and dragged him off to the nearest empty room.

Half an hour or so later Ciel emerged from the room. He walked stiffly through the halls, wincing with every step. Continuing down the stairs and out of the building, Ciel was relieved to finally be on his way home.

"Are you alright Sir?" asked his driver.

"I'm fine." Ciel said flatly.

Ciel had been dozing when they stopped suddenly. "Hey! What are you doing?" he demanded then looked out at what the driver had stopped for. He stared in horror at the flames that were engulfing his home. Fire fighters were already on the scene trying to put out the blaze. Ciel saw a group of servants standing not to far away, most of them looking as if they had barely made it out.

"Where's my parents?" Ciel asked looking around expecting to see them.

"Master…" They all said at once and looked at each other silently asking if the others had seen them.

"Where are my mother and father?" Ciel demanded sounding a little wheezy.

"We're not sure. They should be out here," One of the servants said a little uneasily.

"No…" Ciel said quietly. He turned and ran for the blaze. "NO!!!"

"Shit!" one of the male servants swore and took hold of the boy holding him back from trying to go into the blaze. "Don't be stupid." The man said and was alarmed when Ciel began to wheeze then gasp for breath. "What the hell?"

"He's having an asthma attack." One of the maids said hurriedly.

"Damn, that's some attack… What do we do?" the servant that was still holding Ciel asked.

Sound faded as Ciel's mind began to shut down. Between the asthma attack and the realization that his parents were still in the mansion as it burned was too much for him to handle. Soon darkness took him.

"Arson!" Ciel yelled in disbelief as the police detective talked to him.

"'friad so. Do you know of anyone who hates your parents enough to want them dead?" The detective asked.

"We're nobility, of course there's people who would want them dead," Ciel snapped.

"Any one specific?" the detective inquired irritably.

"No! No one that I knew of anyway, but then I was always off at school. How should I know?" Ciel growled.

"Listen, I'm just trying to find out who did this to your parents," the detective grumbled.

"Then go ask someone who'd know these things. Like I said I was always off at school," Ciel shouted and began to wheeze again.

"Whatever, I doubted we'd get anything out of a spoiled brat like you anyway" the detective sneered as he stood up and began to leave.

"That's right, GET OUT!" Ciel yelled, the stress sending him into a sever asthma attack again. Unconsciousness over took him again, this time faster then before.

"I never thought I'd see the day when a second Ciel Phantomhive would call on me," a voice from the darkness said with an ironic tone.

"Who are you?" Ciel asked.

"That depends on you," The voice replied.

"Stop playing games and answer me," Ciel demanded.

"So very much like your namesake. Very well, I am a demon. You called to me just now. I had assumed you knew."

"Called you…I suppose I did. My parents were murdered, the police are completely incompetent. I have to find their killers. I hear demons will make contracts with humans now and then," Ciel began.

"True enough. I warn you though, if you enter a contract you can never see paradise."

"According to most religious people I'll never do so anyway. I have no concern for the destination of my soul. You can have it," Ciel replied scornfully.

"Very well then," the voice said, and it sounded as if the person were smiling.

The contract was made and the seal of that contract placed. Ciel awoke to what seemed like an empty room. His right eye hurt and when he pulled his hand away from it there was blood. "What the...?" he muttered.

"It will heal. The seal of our contract has been placed. Now all that remains is for you to give me a name."

Looking up at the owner of the voice, Ciel blinked in confusion for a moment then remembered the voice and the contract that they had made. Ciel gazed into the man's red eyes for a moment and considered what he had said. "I think you seem like a Sebastian to me," Ciel said thoughtfully.

"How ironic," Sebastian said with a smile.

"What's so ironic about that?"

"That's precisely the name your namesake gave me," Sebastian smirked.

"What are you going on about?" Ciel asked in complete confusion.

"It's a long story, Master. I will explain in due time. First we should bandage that eye." Sebastian said pulling the boy to his feet.
Sebastian finds himself in a very familiar circumstance. There are a few differences and the possibilities seem to be endless.
